DVD Views: December 1, 2009

Not much out on video this week, except for two sequels to more successful movies. Neither one are very good, but I bet people who enjoy the other film (or films) in the series in question will want to see them anyway.

Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian ** 1/2
The sequel to the hugely successful first film, sees Ben Stiller’s character heading to Washington to try and find his old friends who have been donated to the Smithsonian, and trapped in the basement. An evil mummy lord (Hank Azaria) is holding them hostage, and Stiller has to try and free them - with the help of Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams). Adams is the best thing about this movie - fully of spunk and sass, who is funny and entertaining. This isn’t a great film by any means, but it isn’t awful, and kids will like it. Terminator Salvation **
The latest film is the Terminator series takes place in the future, where the war between the machines and the humans is in full swing, and John Connor (this time played by Christain Bale, taking over for Nick Stahl, who took over for Edward Furlong) who is trying to lead them. Sam Worthington is anither character who doesn’t remember anything, and is simply trying to figure out what is going on. Director McG is fine with special effects, and the action sequences are not bad, but the movie never really comes together - not even with the surprise cameo at the end. Not terrible by any means, but perhaps it is time to retire this franchise. For my original review please see: http://davesmoviesite.blogspot.com/2009/05/movie-review-terminator-salvation.html
